L'Asia occidentale : una storiografia in evoluzione

Il saggio ricostruisce l'evoluzione della storiografia italiana sull'Asia occidentale negli ultimi venti anni, sottolineando come si sia registrato un cambiamento di prospettiva: rispetto alla storiografia precedente, che poneva attenzione soprattutto sugli attori esterni, in particolare europei, ricostruendo le loro vicende tramite fonti archivistiche "occidentali", quella più recente dà maggiore importanza all'agency degli attori interni, grazie al ricorso a fonti locali. The essay deals with the changes occurred to the Italian historiography on Western Asia in the last twenty years. A change in the historical approach has been carried out: compared to previous historiography, that mainly focused on the external actors, especially European ones, reconstructing their role through "Western" archival sources, the most recent historiography primarily tackles the agency of the internal actors, thanks to the use of local sources.
