Creuzer e il neoplatonismo : l'influenza di Proclo nel primo libro della Symbolik und Mythologie der alten Völker
P. 89-107
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of Proclus' Neoplatonism on Friedrich Creuzer's thought. After outlining the basic features of Creuzer's approach in Symbolik und Mythologie der alten Völker, the author discusses a passage in the very first lines of this work where Creuzer explicitly quotes Proclus' Theologia Platonica I, 4, using Proclus to elaborate on his own notion of symbol. The author shows how Creuzer's own idea of the symbol, characterized by a meta-mimetic nature, is already expressed by Proclus himself. The author also shows how Creuzer found in Proclus a model for the pursuit of his own historical-religious research. [Publisher's text]
